Greeting’s Gamer’s
After playing / working a hole year it’s time to leave 2009 behind us !
I hope u had allot of good time’s ,What i have seen this year what i was suprised about is that :
-we had allot of pickup game’s ( #spontanq4ctf ) ! even some cups where going on , what still need to finish

-quake4 is still not dead ( some people say’s it, but its deffently NOT )

- Chako our Spontan Leader , still care about q4 !
he still rents server’s for us so we can play our game’s..caus other server’s
still have a old version like ( 1.0 ore 1.3 BASE  ) and we use 1.4.2.
so i wanna give my big thanks to chako ! caus hes the one who keeps the site updated / server avaible and he keeps the game running by this.
We have some statistics for you, our site reached in the last days a whopping 150.000 page views in the last 3 years and we got now over 600 registered users aswell.

And now I am not gonna talk about the bad things we past this year
i prefer to let them in the year 2009, caus its more important to us whats gonna happen in the future then in the past.

for now lets dance one more time and celebrete 2009
caus tomorrow we are gonna start a new year with allot of games money and plenty sex.

Let me write it in one or two simple sentences.
At first for me I have no longer not so much time and ambition to manage the page (mostly alone) which is based on Joomla. Its a real huge and complicated content management system (cms) totally overloaded and not made for people which have less knowledge like my spontan team except me I guess, sorry

I changed now  to a simple and more easier to understand “cms” that is fast to learn and easy to handle. If I’m longer away, then the spontan team should be able to manage the site alone like news writing or something else.
Further in the future this page shall only present many usefull stuff like tutorials for Quakelive and Quake 4  Pickup stuff like rules, and less news from outer quake world except when we have news from our spontan community self,  and I would say for this project is those actual “cms” now the best solution for all.

I hope whole Quake Community agree with me and maybe you have time or more time and fun to help us in any things here, please bring experiences thenyou are welcome anddont be shy register to the new site and contact us to get a contribtution.

The moment has arrived and it’s time to revive the oldschool channel #spontanq4ctf .
We now have the posibility to move our pickup bot to this channel since the old bot has parted the channel and given away the master rights.

We therefor recommend all CTF players in #spontan.games to join this channel for further Q4CTF pickups.

But you don’t have leave the other channel, can still be here as it will later be used for TDM.
We are planning to add more gametypes once the GameTypeRevolution modification for Quake 4 have been released.

Further on we have changed the pickup rules a bit, so please read through it before you !add to any games.

For people who are new in mIRC here you can find our mIRC Tutorial.

New people have been added to the development team in hope to speed things up. These are: sk4ut and zhakal.

Some mappers have joined at this point to make help make some maps to be shipped with it and its new modifications. These are: B6, Bull, mnemjc, sevenix, wata and zhakal.

Since we’ve been a bit slow on the news front since we took over, it was about time to give some info of what we’re doing and what to expect. Therefore we release a changelog which is being updated every time a issue or bug is being fixed or something is added. The changelog can be found HERE

Since the number of features added are so many one should look through the wiki and changelog to get a full view of whats done.

So what types of differences are there between us and the other mods out there? Well GTR is a versatile Quake 4 modification that aims to make the game more enjoyable. The developement will never be limited by a rule set such as “VQ4” (Basic Quake 4).This means we do what other mods won’t do, hence we WILL change what needs to be changed to make the game more fun.

We have not locked the mod to just one gametype, but have several ones that we focus on. These areas are: CA, TDM, CTF, Duel, Freezetag, Trickjumping, One flag CTF etc. The main goal is to change how the game runs and feels with the main areas of performance and graphics.

On a side note, since we got a very limited team of developers and mappers we are always in the search of help to get this mod faster ready. Our spontangames site has garnered today a whopping 100.000 page views in the last 3 years and the last days we got now over 500 registered users aswell.

This is a huge number for a small online-gaming community site leading with a small team that has had no advertising and is not commercial in nature.

It shows that people inside and outside the Quake community care what happens in the Quake Szene and that people are watching to see how the community stands up and takes back it’s town.

The Staff of spontangames would like to thank all of those who have visited, joined, playing Cups and contributed to making our launch an absolute success.

For the time being they are releasing their changelog of what’s done so far and they will keep it up to date each time they fix an issue.

This way you’ll get some idea of what they’re doing and what can be expected.

They are still looking for help in the area of mapping as they need Clan Arena (scaled right), defrag type of maps (running, tricking with times) and trickjumping maps (teamtricking, solo tricking etc).

So if you got an urge to show your talent or want to contribute please join up #GT-Revolution @ quakenet IRC.

This last week they have added a public vanilla Q4Base CTF server that is located in Germany that will be open to the public.

We hope to keep our community strong by bringing this server to the community.  As well, we hope this server can bring more people to the #spontan.games @ quakenet irc channel.  The internet relay chat is a great tool when it comes to bringing a gaming community together.  IRC brings people together because it enables for 1) group chat, 2) private chat amongst members, and 3) organization of games of individuals who would not otherwise have communication with each other.  The #spontan.games channel is NOT a corporate entity who will be owning or merging with other entities, #spontan.games channel cooperates and collaborates with other groups instead since they are run by the community of gamers.  The #spontan.games channel has more than 11 people from the community who pitch in voluntarily to keep this channel alive.  So, please come to this server and spread the word to the people you know!!!
