Clientsided requirements (What do I need to be able to play?):

Legal version of Quake 4 with a working CD-Key and ID’s latest patch (1.42)
Latest version of the modification GT-Revolution (GTR) downloadable from the official
http://gametype-revolution.com/ site or from our FILEBASE (Quake4/Mods)
You also need certain maps to play on these two spontan-servers, they can either be download from our filebase ctf section or you can connect directly to the server with auto-download enabled. Enabling auto-download is done inside console by setting the cvar ‘net_clientDownload 1′.

After fulfilling the requirements (download maps,mods etc.) you are ready to join our Quake 4 pickup channels mainly #spontanq4ctf (Quakenet IRC).

To be able to play on this server you have to add up (!add) in the channel mentioned over, but before doing this you have to test your ping towards the server. This can be done by command prompt (start menu -> run -> cmd then type ‘ping IP’ where IP is the servers ip). The server IP can be found in topic or by using the command !ip . If the ping is between 0 & 120 you can !add, if higher your adding on your own terms and may suffer server lags and packet-loss.

If you at some point before the game starts cannot play or have other things to do, you can remove yourself by typing ‘!remove’.

When the pickup has started – Pickup-System:

Join the server as fast as possible.If this isn’t possible because of any reason, it’s up to you to search for another player who will play for you.
The bot will suggest 2 captains, but we think its better let two good players cap. If you dont know the players at all dont join any team and relax till a captain have called your nick. It is up to all players to help out captains who don’t know everybody. Help them pick wisely to make balanced teams and the match will be more pleasant and balanced at least more fun for all
All players on server use their proper nicks. If IRC and game-nick isn’t the same, please let them know so they know who you are. In other words, do not use a fake Nick or this will be reflected in a ban.[/*]
If you are 5 mins. late, a spec/sub is already there and the picking starts, you’re not automaticly choosen to play cause you are late, everybody else managed to get there on time.If you have a sub to take your place, you will not be banned! However, others should not find a sub for you, you should do this yourself, if you fail, you even though get a punishement.
If you join another pickup in another channel, remove yourself (!remove) and do not add yourself while playing another game. This is to protect the others adding from missing 1 player when the game starts and you from getting banned.[/*]

The Pummel-Duel (New since Dec 2010: Picking order has changed !!!)

Captains pummel with 100/100 or less
Picking order is: (1-1-)1-1-1-2-1 (new rule since Dec 2010). This means the pummel winner has both 1st pick and last pick, in an effort to balance out teams.
The cap winner may choose the map being played out of the servers mappool. For more fun we guess never choose a map twice in a row !!
Every player has to play the map until the end, even if it is a win or a loss. If you need to leave in the middle of the game, take a timeout and make sure you get a standin and do NOT disconnect before he/she is on the server and ready to play. By not doing this you will get banned for leaving a pickup game. Players who think they can part the channel and then disconnect as well on server without searching / finding an appropriate substitute will get a a harder punishment.
